19/1/2006 AudioMulch 1.0rc2 Release Notes
AudioMulch version 1.0rc2 is now available from the download page. This version will expire on February 10th 2006.
This version includes a number of critical bug fixes some of which address stability issues and correct operation of MIDI parameter modulation mappings. The LiveLooper and CanonLooper have been further enhanced and can now be found in the Effects category.
Release Candidate Status
This version is the second "release candidate" for AudioMulch version 1.0. The focus is now on stabilising AudioMulch for the forthcoming 1.0 release, the main reason for releasing this candidate is to ensure no major bugs have crept in before the final 1.0 release, so if you find any, please report them to rossb@audiomulch.com. You may wish to consult the known bugs file in the distribution for a list of known bugs.
Note that the expiry date for this release has been set short to ensure that people are testing the latest version.
CanonLooper and LiveLooper Contraptions
This release sees the CanonLooper and LiveLooper contraptions graduate from the Beta category to the Effects category. Both contraptions have been enhanced in response to user feedback.
A new "Record Monitor" option has been added to both LiveLooper and CanonLooper which allows you to select whether the input is passed through to the output while a track is recording. Being able to disable the Record Monitor is useful in some live processing situations where you already have the input routed to SoundOut through some other chain which bypasses the looper.
A Track Clear button has been added to each track of the LiveLooper. Hold down the control key when clicking on it to avoid being prompted to confirm the operation. A Reset button has been added to the CanonLooper -- unlike the Reset button on the LiveLooper this button will not prompt you to confirm the operation.
The CanonLooper's repeat limit option has been modified so that enabling and disabling it is now done with a new check box (previously a -1 repeat limit disabled it). The current repeat number is now indicated in the Looping phase panel.
The CanonLooper now has an option to Sync to clock bars. When this option is selected the CanonLooper will align the start and end of recording and canon track playback to the selected clock granularity. The minimum clock sync bars setting on both the LiveLooper and CanonLooper is now 0.0625 which allows you to specify fractions of bars as the syncronisation granularity.
Bug fixes
The following bugs were fixed for this release:
- Fixed Access Violation bug when clicking skip-all to find missing soundfiles and under some conditions when switching windows.
- Fixed Access Violation bug when creating the first contraption - only happened on some rare systems.
- Fixed bug with MIDI modulation of range siders with */Width modulation where editing with the GUI would scramble the values the next time the mapped MIDI slider was used.
- Fixed bug where the Use Non-Linear Scale MIDI mapping option did not work correctly in conjunction with non-default Upper Limit and/or Lower Limit settings.
- Fixed bug in Parameter Modulation dialog where output labels on the mapping curve did not always display the correct values.
- Fixed bug where setting SouthPole Envelope modulation amounts to exactly zero would not cause a change to the sound.
- Fixed LiveLooper bug where it could sometimes continue to pass input if it was recording when you selected Reset.
Reporting Bugs
Although this version has been tested it may contain new or as yet undetected bugs. If AudioMulch crashes or behaves in an unexpected way please report it as a bug to rossb@audiomulch.com. Further details about reporting bugs are contained in the Beta.txt file which is included with the AudioMulch installation.
