Anyone have any idea how I could use my wireless XBox controller joystick to control the position on the Metasurface in Mulch?

I may be able to help if yo are using a Windows PC. If so, what version of controller are you using eg Xbox 360, Xbox 1 etc?

Ok good I have the same, I'll try to get it working like a mouse then we should be able to control the metasurface with it. I'll let you know how I go.

Ok so I found a solution if you don't mind paying US$3.

The program is called Controller Companion, I purchased it from this web site: controllercompanion.com

Here is a video of it in use: https://youtu.be/xl_Aibxzo40

I checked the download on https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload and it appeared clean so I installed it. It loads without any interface and the contrller just works like a mouse. You can control the cursor position using the left joystick and the A button is used as the Left Mouse Button. I tested it wiht the Metasurface1.amh example file and it worked perfectly.  It's actually fun sitting back and floating around the Metasurface from the couch :)

The program has no junk on screen, the only indicator that it is running is a icon on the status bar.

I'm sure there are free utilities but this was so easy and only cost 3 bucks so I'm happy to recommend it.

Edit: After postiing this I foud that I could not use the Metasurface in full screen mode but I checked the website and it is easy to override this. Just watch this video:

That's excellent, thak you! Yes, should be fine/reputable if it's available on STEAM. I'm gonna buy it there and let you know how I get on, thanks so much for this!

Yes, whole idea is to have a big 4k full screen metasurface on our TV and be able to tweak it from the sweet spot on the couch, can't wait!

That sounds fun :) the mouse movement is very smooth too so it is great for smooth transitions!

I'm glad you asked about this because I've wanted to try using a controller but never got around to it.

BTW, I found it on Steam but strangely there is no obvious way to purchase or install from Steam, which is why I purchased direct from the site I linked.

Thanks, I tried it yesterday and it's working perfectly! Was a lot of fun. Now I need to start making my own Metsaurfce patches.

I tried the other link to buy/download but it said it would just send a STEAM link, so as I already have a STEAM account I just bought it there instead. You have to have the STEAM app installed and be logged in etc. to be able to install it. I am not sure if it will run seperately without STEAM or not, I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks for all the help, it's been something I have wanted to do for years.

No problem I'm glad it works for you! Thanks for the Steam info :)

I'm gonna have fun with it too!
