Akai Lpd8 Mapping

Hello dear Am users.

I got an Akai Lpd8 controller these days and the mapping on AM is driving me nuts.  I enabled MIDI and started to map the knobs with the quick learn mode, which works very well (AM contraptions and VST instruments). The LPD8 has 4 presets eaxh one can be changed using the Program button so in each preset can be assigned new values to the knobs. So I have set the values for each preset making it possible to use 32 CC messages in total with the knobs (8 knobs-8 CC messages for each preset). As for the note-on note-off mode (for VST instruments) the note scales settings have to be arranged in the LPD8 editor before opening AM and they work fine, so there is no need for Audiomulch mapping for the Note-ON Note-Off mode bacause they have already been set automatically as I assigned the on the editor, so NOte-ON Note-Off mode on LPD8 with AM works fine, the CC's works fine, my problem is with mapping with the PROG CHNG (program change mode) on which you can switch instruments or banks or patches or I don;t know (Need to be clarified what are the AM functions the PROG CHNG operates) when I assign to a Pad (example Pad 1) to hit  PLAY, then Pad 2 to hit Pause they both work well at the beginning but when I assign to the other pads another function multiple paramenters begin to change with just one command, even the CC parameters (generally unassigned ones, when I check the parameter control they still appear unassigned but when back in operating they change being triggered by the PRO CHNG tabs), so then I try to pres PLAY for example and it triggers delay (CC) or Monitor Mode etc. The other presets were automatically using the same functions when I checked them so every command from the first preset was automatically working on preset 2 preset 3 etc triggering the same multiple functions of the same pad as in preset 1. I thought maybe it was a Midi channel problem (I don't know much about MIDI channels, this is the first time I'm using MIDI data, so I am not clear of  where or why channels should be assigned to that specific channel). So for each preset I changed to a different channel on the LPD8 editor, so: Preset 1-Channel 1, Preset 2-Channel 2, Preset 3-Channel 3, Preset 4-Channel 4 but still the problems were the same even when I assigned the four presets to channel 1 same problem appears. I changed the values of PROG CHNG so they would be different from the CC values but nothing changed, I would definitely need some help with this. Plus I need to know if there is any readymade preset for the LPD8-Audiomulch mapping, as there is already one avaible for Ableton when installing LPD8.. Maybe I'm missing smth about the channels here, can someone who knows how to operate LPD8 help me? I think the problem is not in Audiomulch per se but with assigning channels or parameters on my controller I don't know what to think. I would like for PGR CHNG mode to assign simple tasks like pause, play or whatever parameter that operates with this mode from LPD8 to Mulch.

I'm really appreciate some help on this...

HI Ilir,

Firstly, I don't know anything about the LPD8 so I can only make informed guesses...

My first guess is that when you make a program change from the LPD8 it also resends other parameter values. I recommend installing MIDIOX http://www.midiox.com/ and checking exactly what MIDI messages are being sent when you hit Pad 1 in the example above. If it is only the program change message then I am wrong with my first guess, but that is my first guess.

Second guess is that you also have the program change mapped to some contraption presets (that's a useful thing to map them to).

Those are the two obvious things I can think of (1) LPD8 is sending more than just a program change, or (2) AM is responding to the program change because you have set up additional mappings.

Not that I know of. AudioMulch is very flexible, every AudioMulch patch is different, so there is really no way to have readymade preset mappings like Ableton.

Let me know if you have further questions and I'll try to answer them.

hello ilirlluka you have to set each preset of LPD on 4 different midi channels using the software that came with the controller and I suggest you to use the program change to play the presets of each contraption. Unfortunately there are only 4 presets so you can only assign a maximum of 4 presets contraption.
