(reposted from general help board)
hi

I'm trying to work out how to use my edirol pcr1 to switch metasurface presets, or even just to switch contraption presets.

I know how to map midi cc & note velocity etc, but seem to have hit a brick wall trying to get preset switching happening.

Starting to wonder if my pcr1 needs to move to a scrap yard. Or if I should be blaming the user :)

Any suggestions/guidance?

The metasurface isn't but snapshot switching is - so my bad (and thanks for pointing it out) I shouldn't have posted here....

So let's keep it to contrap preset switching which is the same principle.

Program change isn't working for me.

Should a single toggle switch be selecting each preset sequentially?

Your best bet is program change. I just download the edirol's manual and you can send program change with it.

If you wanna know what's availble as far as option, just look in the parameter control/midi control source. You could assign a knob to it if you want. So just right-click on the preset box, quick map midi control, turn whatever knob you want and it's done.

Yeah, it's probably confusing to talk about features in the beta version on the forums. It is listed in the non-roadmap though: http://www.audiomulch.com/whats-coming so it's not a secret that it's coming.

But if you can work out how to get contraption preset switching working Brendon then you should be on your way.

I've used cc mapping via knob before but this doesn't work well - it spits out random presets.

re: program mapping - I've already worked through the manual instructions, but with no success, so I've been wondering if the controller might in fact not be working correctly.

What I'm hoping is that someone can point me to a step by step (not necessarily AM or Edirol specific) that can help me see how it should be working and what the behaviour should be.

Perhaps this might clarify: if working correctly would one button be stepping through the presets consecutively?

Perhaps it might help if you clearly state what you are trying to achieve Brendon.

To set up 1 button for each preset: You need to program the buttons to each send a different CC value for the same CC number.

To step through presets you could need a counter. Some controllers provide this. AM doesn't directly support increment/decrement messages.

Sorry to only respond now - set my controller to factory preset and trying to work through all settings...

OK - got this right so far :)

Had to factory preset the controller then start from scratch - programming was in a bit of a mess...
