What's Coming?

This is what we’re working on at the moment:

Version 2.2 (due early in 2012)

The following features have been implemented and are ready for testing:

  • Support lower input/output latency (< 5ms)
  • Support switching Metasurface snapshots from MIDI
  • MIDI output contraptions
  • Improved stability of Chase MIDI Sync
  • Increase number of supported contraption presets to 128
  • Allow musical note names and frequencies to be specified everywhere one or the other is currently used
  • New welcome screen showing recent documents etc.
  • Upgrade of Mac GUI to Cocoa -- with some improvements to VST and AU plug-in GUI hosting on Mac
  • Enhance delete automation range function (make deleting time optional)
  • Improve structure and clarity of help files (in progress, milestone 1 complete)
  • Internal code cleanup to support future development

Please send an email to beta@audiomulch.com if you would like to help test these new features.

We've started on these items but work will continue past version 2.2:

  • Improve GUI performance (in progress, might get de-prioritised)
  • New contraptions

At this stage the following features look likely to be scheduled for version 2.3:

  • Extend MIDI mapping implementation (NRPN support, improved note message support)
  • MIDI fader feedback
  • Cut, copy and paste of rhythmic patterns in contraption editors
  • Rework undo system, add undo for Metasurface edits

Once AudioMulch 2.2 is released we'll share more concrete plans for the 2.3 release.

Right now we think this stuff is pretty important but no promises, we havn’t got to it yet:

  • Improve multichannel audio input/output configuration
  • Hot-plug audio device support
  • Improve input/output level meters
  • Import/export hardware settings or “hardware profiles”
  • 64 bit executables on Windows and Mac
  • Multi-core audio processing support

This page used to be called “roadmap”. Roadmaps can have many purposes: to create a guiding vision for future development, to give a vague impression of what we think might happen, to try to get you to buy something that doesn’t exist yet. We don’t want to publish those kind of roadmaps. We have tried not to include things here that might happen, even if we think they’re important or could be useful.
