Synchronizing AudioMulch to an External MIDI Sequencer
Using MIDI Sync
To use MIDI sync you need to have a MIDI sequencer or external MIDI clock
source such as a drum machine capable of providing MIDI clock and song
position pointer information connected to your computer via a MIDI interface.
To begin, open the Settings/Preferences dialog box (on Windows select
Settings... from the Edit menu, on Macintosh select Preferences... from the
AudioMulch application menu). In the Settings/Preferences dialog box select
the MIDI Sync page from the list on the left, then select a MIDI Sync Device
from the drop down list on the right – this should correspond to the
MIDI interface that your drum machine or sequencer is connected to. Next,
open a document that contains clock-based contraptions (e.g. Bassline and
Drums). Enable external sync by choosing Chase MIDI Sync from the
Control menu. If necessary, enable audio by clicking the speaker button
on the Transport toolbar. When you start
and stop the external MIDI clock source, AudioMulch will start its own clock
and synchronize with the external source. It will also track tempo
changes.
AudioMulch will take a small amount of time to lock synchronization; for this reason it is advisable to send a one bar count-in to ensure clean sync.
Note: It is possible to select the same device for MIDI sync and MIDI parameter control.
