Hi all,

I'm using EnergyXT 2.5.2 VST inside of AudioMulch. When I set up multiple EnergyXT presets within AudioMulch, I am able to switch between them manually without any problem. However when I use a midi controller to switch between them, AudioMulch crashes and I get a blue screen saying my computer has to restarts to avoid damage and then automatically does so. My guess based on a previous post is that it is a driver issue, but I have no idea how to resolve it. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Joseph

Hi Joseph. Yes it does sound like a driver issue. What does the blue screen say? And what Audio and MIDI hardware are you using? -- Ross

Thanks so much Ross.

Here's the info:

I've got a Toshiba Satellite A505 with an i3 processor running Windows 7 Home Premium.

My main sound card and midi controller is a Novation X-Station, which uses ASIO drivers. I also use: an Evolution X-Session usb midi controller, a MOTU Fastlane-USB midi interface connecting an Emu Command Station, and an Alesis Multimix 8 USB as a secondary sound card.

Below are some info I got after EnergyXT crashed. AudioMulch let me copy it to the clip board. I left out the 'Registers' section.

Hi Joseph

I think there are two problems here. Energy XT is crashing, and as far as I can tell it's a bug in Energy XT. The blue screen probably is a driver problem although usually they give a bit more info than that. The only thing I can suggest is to try eliminating things (only use one interface at a time etc) and work out which one is causing the crash. I suspect its the audio interface/ASIO driver but it's hard to say.

As for the Energy XT problem, you could try contacting them. Give them the info about and let them know that when switching presets via MIDI AudioMulch is calling dispatcher/effSetChunk from the audio thread, and that XT is only crashing in that case, not when effSetChunk is invoked from the GUI thread. They're welcome to contact me for further info.

Ross.
