Bug tracker suggestion

Regarding AM bugs, I was wondering if it would be possible to host some sort of bugtracking system where users can register a bug, and users could attach screenshots, and other users could confirm the problem, or suggest workarounds.

Part of the value in this is that Ross could prioritise bugs and users could get a better sense of where their problem is in the grand scheme of things.

There are numerous bug trackers around, ranging from systems like bugzilla (http://www.bugzilla.org) to Canonical's mighty Launchpad (http://launchpad.net). Or something more simple could be devised for use on this site.

Cheers

It has been raised before, and I think its worth discussing what people would like.

From my point of view, I have a database which I use for scheduling my work and keeping track of bugs and feature requests but I don't think I'm prepared to put my whole working process on the public record at this stage. Bugs reach me by a lot of different channels and I'm pretty confident it would slow me down if I had to keep everything in a web based system.

I think that means that the best could be done would be a 'user bug submission system' -- currently there's a forum area for that, but if people think a bug tracking system would be a better format I can consider it.

The trade off is really about supporting an efficient development process while providing the level of support that people want -- I only know what I want, so I'll be interested to hear other people's responses to this.

Thanks

Ross
