Hi All

I'd like to request your help.

Last week someone reported a problem with hung notes when using MIDI with VSTis. The problem turned out to be a nasty bug that could also cause plugins or AudioMulch to crash.

The bug is only triggered when MIDI data is received on multiple MIDI channels simultaneously and the plugin's Recieve Channel in the Parameter Control window is set to a single channel (i.e. not "None" or "All (1-16)").

I believe I have fixed the problem now, but since the fix affects all MIDI data flowing to plugins (not just the situation which causes the crash) I would like it to have wider testing before I release an official update.

I know it's not a great time of year, but I'm looking for people to help test it in the next day or two. If you use AudioMulch with VSTi's and MIDI control you can help. Just download the beta version via the link below, and post back here whether VSTi MIDI functionality works for you. All I need to know is that it is working as well as it did in 2.0.3 (or better), and what platform you're on (PC/Mac). If I get enough responses I'll release the final 2.0.4 tomorrow -- otherwise I'll wait for more feedback, so please post your results here.

Many thanks

Ross.

Hello Ross, I just tested right now, it seems to work, however I couldn't reproduce the bug in 2.0.3..?
I'm with Mac OS 10.6.2

I put the mda DX-10 to receive on channel 1, and plugged in 2 MIDI inputs, one from the IAC Bus and one from the Bidule 1 port.

Just tell me if you need another way of plugging.

Kind regards,

JM.

Hi JM

To reproduce on 2.0.3 You need to send multiple MIDI channels on from same device (so 2 different MIDI channels at the same time from bidule port 1 say). The midi notes on the different channels need to be send simultaneously.

Thanks

Ross.

I could reproduce it (with phrazor as MIDI sequencer and 2 synth plugins, receiving in either channel 1 and 2). When notes on both channels came simultaneously, the notes on channel 2 (second synth) were missing. If they came not simultaneously, both synths are heard, but I got hanging notes on channel .

@Al Magnifico: so is it fixed for you with the 2.0.4 beta I posted or do you still have the problem there? Thanks!

Sorry, yes, I tested the regular 2.03 and not the 2.04 beta. I repeated the test with the new beta and it works now (at least for me).

Great. Sounds like I should release 2.0.4

No problems. Can you please try the test version linked above and let me know if it fixes the problem for you? As far as I know it has only been tested for external midi input, but it should solve the issue you reported too.

Thanks

Ross.

Yes tested it with the beta
Everything is fine now , plugins receive on different midi channels without notes getting muted
Great job =)

Good news! :-)

Now I just have to fix that pesky open sound file preview playback crash on Snow Leopard and I can release 2.0.4
