Parameter Control - Fine-tuning MIDI Mapping?

Hi all,

I'm trying to set specific limitations on how MIDI will affect a particular parameter (frequency in the Ring AM). A MIDI expression pedal will be used to adjust this in real time, but I would like it to only do semitones, and I'm looking to make it work in just intonation (I'm writing a piece for trumpet and live electronics). I've already had some success using the mapping window (limited my parameters to one octave and started mapping it to semitones in equal temperament, some of which are ending up a few cents sharp or flat), but I'm wondering if there's a way to set those to exact frequencies or if I just have to drag it around until I get the frequency I want. If anyone is able to help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi Joseph, right now there's not really a good way to do that, sorry. I have been toying with the idea of adding a kind of table-spreadsheet type thing as an optional alternative to the mapping curve. That would allow you to type in exact frequencies.

If you want to go all the way you could investigate tweaking the mapping curve numbers in the AudioMulch document with a text editor (it's an XML file and not so hard to edit). I'm not sure how easy it would be to get the result you want though.
