what new contraptions are being considered/worked on for 2.3?

Just curious as I noticed this on the "what's coming" page.

No contraptions are being worked on *yet*. Most likely the new contraptions will be sound processing effects rather than new generators. There are some prototypes from past iterations that are likely candidates: FM, "distortion" I'm also thinking about a convolution reverb type thing (not really a reverb, more like a generalised convolver). Physical modelling resonators are another thing I've wanted to do for a while.

The list of potential contraptions is long and I need to spend some time with it. I don't really want to pre-empty myself too much here since some experiments work out well and others don't.

Ahh those all sound great especially physical modeling and convolution.

How do you tell if an experiment with a contraption works out?

It sounds good, it's efficient on CPU, and it seems generally useful.

Not working out would be something like: "this sounds bad, or this shows some promise but it's not going to work in real-time or I need to spend another 6 months researching something to get this into a releasable state"

these sound like great ideas Ross. always looking forward to whatever you have planned. mulch remains more or less at the center of my process.

I'd love a generic convolution effect in mulch. :)
