Setting up MIDI Mapping

Hi,

I've read a few posts on MIDI mapping, but haven't seen this mentioned yet. Sorry if it's been covered already.

I read through the Help file and it references a "Toggle checkbox" which I believe is what I need for the problem I'm having, but I can't find it anywhere. Does this refer to an earlier version of AM?

The issue I'm having is, I just bought a set of Korg Nano controllers, and the buttons on the Kontrol are functioning as momentaries, when I want them to function as toggles. If I assign them to mute, solo or play, they'll only perform that function while I'm holding the button down. I'd like it to stay on until I hit the button again. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks very much!

You can find the toggle check box as follows:

Display the Parameter Control window by choosing Paramater Control... from the View menu.

Select the parameter you're interested in in the tree at the left.

(You an also jump directly to this stage by right clicking on a parameter and choosing "Parameter Control..." from the pop up menu.)

Now on the right side of the Parameter Control window you should see two tabs "Sources" and "Mapping".

Click the "Mapping" tab.

The mapping tab displays different options depending on the parameter type. If it's a true/false checkbox type parameter such as a mixer mute, then you should see a Toggle check box on the parameter control tab. Note that these settings will be disabled unless you've already set up a MIDI mapping for that parameter using Quick-map or using the "Sources" tab.

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Ross,

Yeah, I've been messing around with the Mapping tab, but just to verify, I just went in again and tried to set the simple t/f parameters like mute, solo, play, etc, and I still don't get the "toggle" option like the one in the picture. No matter the parameter I get the whole "upper limit, lower limit, smoothing, and curve" section.

On a positive note, I figured that the Nano controllers could be set up using the Kontrol Editor software, I just couldn't use it on my laptop because of some weird Win7 incompatibility that I'm still working out. But I got the editor to work on my desktop computer running Vista, so I was able to select toggle vs note mode on the Kontroller so now the buttons work the way I want them to in Mulch. That said, I'd still love to know why I'm not getting the Mulch MIDI Mapping options I should be getting.

Thanks again!

Could you give me some specific examples of parameters that you are trying to control that you think should work?

Here are some that definitely do work, so if they're not working for you we need to work out why:

- Mixer Mutes and Solos

- Loop Player Mute

- Matrix Gates

Thanks,

Ross.
