metasurface not functioning?

Hi everyone..
just downloaded AM a couple of weeks ago - having a great time going through all the various contraptions which (so far) seem to be working just fine.
however I'm having real problems with the Metasurface - whatever I do it just isn't responding, apart from "correcting" some manual parameter changes I make.
on certain contraptions I've noticed the only movement seems to be the "zeros" at the end of some parameters, but no effect on the sound produced.
even the example given isn't responding to any changes I make, although the (unchanged) example itself works fine.
any ideas?
(I'm running PC with Windows 7 64 bit version).
cheers..
Geoff

Hi Geoff,

First thing would be to get the Example working for you. I assume you mean the Metasurface1 example. Try loading it again and trying these things:

Assuming that you have audio enabled (and perhaps the clock started) you should be able to double click the snapshots in the Metasurface snapshots list to recall each one, and hear the difference.

Then, to use the interpolation surface, make sure you have clicked the Interpolate button so you get the crosshairs, and click and drag (holding the mouse down in the surface) should move many parameters.

Let us know how you get on with that.

Beyond that, the "adding zeros" thing is a slight bug which is fixed in AudioMulch 2.2: Very tiny changes get registered sometimes when all saved parameter values are the same. You can work around this in AudioMulch 2.1 by disabling parameters you aren't working with in the Metasurface parameters tree, but it shouldn't be a significant issue either way.

Hi Ross..
ok - thanks for the hints - in fact the problem was very basic - didn't realise you need at least 2 snapshots with different parameter settings for each contraption to get things moving - all working fine now I understand that.
1st time I've used a non-sequencer based programme - having a great time with it now!
thanks once again..
cheers
