Hi Mulchers,

for anyone living in the home of audiomulch you can come see merge into stripes play at pony on friday the 14th of august in melbourne, australia.

merge into stripes create musick outside of any known genres - chaotic, improvised, ritualistic, with only the vaguest idea of where they're going, what they're doing, or why. only one thing's for sure - it's not rock and roll. completely improvised experimental soundscapes using audiomulch to manipulate each and every sound you here. don't come with any expectations of what you'll hear cause we have no expectations on what we will create.

venue: pony
where's that: little collins street, melbourne, victoria, australia
when: 9pm, friday 14th august 2009
who's on: merge into stripes (opening), floods, sun of clark.

That sounds ace, Bendy. Shame I'm not in Oz, really!

Is there any way you could do a few video clips of the gig? I was listening to your stuff and am really interested to see how you 'go about it'...!

yeah, this would be a great show to see for sure. I miss doing this sort of thing on stage. May have to bring the solo act back. Do you guys ever make it to the States for tours? let me know.

wow, just listened to the other two acts billed for a show. That night the music is all over the place. Should be a good time.

Thanks! Not sure if we're planning to video or not but it's possible. Not sure how much you'd get out of it in terms of how it's done either. In one corner we have mat with his guitar/bass/some sort of instrument and cd player, dvd player and other sources all connected through a mess of pedals. The output of this goes into mulch where it is, well, mulched. So all you'd see is me crouched over the laptop and mat crouched over his gear. We're not much of a visual band :)

Find us a promoter prepared to bring us over and we're there :)

Is an interesting mix of bands, not sure why the organiser thought we'd fit well together but i'm not complaining. A gig's a gig. I'm sure there'll be some people there who'll appreciate us even if they are there for the pop punk headline act!

Have just discovered that Pony streams all shows over the internet via awdio.com.

http://www.awdio.com/#sources/112/Pony_Club

I don't know anything about the service and have never used it. In fact I'm not even entirely sure if we'll be broadcast as the show was organised at the last minute and we aren't listed on the event page. We should be in between the 'Pioneers of Good Science' show on Thursday night and 'Disaster Radio' who are doing the 2am show.

We're on at 10pm Australian Eastern Standard Time so feel free to fire up your browser and see if we're online.

Hi Lou,

Sorry you couldn't make it. It went really well, very happy with the noises we made :) At the start were just playing to a handful of people we knew but had quite a crowd by the time we finished and they seemed to be listening attentively :) Can't wait to do it again!

The whole show has been uploaded to myspace as well, http://myspace.com/mergeintostripes. It's the three S tracks (S1, S2, S3) in the music player.

And will definitely be spamming the forum again next time we play! Hopefully won't be too far away, was too much fun.

enjoy
