hi peoples
: )
I have studied the 'DrumLooper.amh' example a bit and I must say I don't get how it works.
I don't quite get how one enters into learning this program.
Am I missing some documentation somewhere?
Or is there an expected minimum knowledge base for someone entering into AM?
Part of how I was trying to figure out how this particular example works is by editing some of its parameters but it doesn't seem to allow me to do this -
the parameters I change auto correct when it plays.
I have tons of questions and am not sure where to begin.
Thanks if anyone has some tips for a beginner.
I have some basic knowledge of computer based audio techniques.

Hi,

Some of the drum patterns from the drum contraption are recorded in the livelooper and played back while the drum contraption plays another pattern. Some layering basically.

You won't be able to edit some of the paramters because of the automation at the bottom. What you can do is mute any parameters you wanna edit by click the / sign at the left of the automated parameter in the automation lane. In the case of the drums, you have to mute the drums_1.preset. (in the automation lane)
This example though is a bit trickier so you might not see results if you don't know what's going on.

I suggest also that you read the section on the livelooper but if you are new to all this, the livelooper is one of the most advanced contraptions in Audiomulch. Probably the least understood also.

OK
so one question I have
Why does live looper have only one input?
Why not two for left and right channels?

Thanks

Oh and one other ...
Is there any other script that is running the automation aspect of the 'DrumLooper' patch?
Or is the automation that occurs intrinsic in the contraptions - if you know what i mean...

Thanks

To your 1st question: The livelooper is mono. I don't know if it's going to be stereo in the future. Ross (Audiomulch's author) is the only one who knows.

2nd question: Not quite sure what you mean by that. Since you are new to Audiomulch, I can only suggest you read the manual from top to bottom. It is well written, informative and there are some tips on how to use the contraptions themselves. I've read it myself and I've learned a lot on how to use it properly and effectively.

Thanks P

Just wanted to let you know.
I'm hooked.
Great program!
I plan to buy it for sure!

Thanks - great work going on here.

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy AM! I've been using it since the beginning (about 14 years) and never get fed-up with it and I don't think I ever will.

Post some of your experiment with AM, I'm always curious to hear people's music and the way they work with AM.

Just to add a few minor (maybe not-so-helpful) comments

1) it's pretty easy to setup a stereo looper in audiomulch. I haven't checked the patch in question. But you can pull it off even with delays and gain/matrix contraptions (it's even possible to have pretty tight control over things like erasing loop segments using the feedback control with this simple setup). To be honest, I haven't really explored the new loopers that much... there's so much to be done with delays, gains, and recorders already...

2) If you keep playing with audiomulch (regardless of your current knowledge), you will eventually have a eureka moment when everything suddenly makes sense. I think the key transition is that at first, you understand how a few contraptions work in isolation. At some point, you'll understand enough about enough modules that you start conceptualizing and feeling confident about new ways of combining them. That's when it gets fun.

They are useful tips!

I like the livelooper in AM and I use quite a bit but there are some things that aren't in there that I wished were. They will eventually come in the future (I hope). So now, for my own livelooping, I've been using mobius in AM. I have bought a roland spd-sx and I've set-up mobius so that it start recording above a certain threshold and I hit an edge trigger to loop the recording. There's another edge trigger that also allows me to overdub. Mobius is an extremely advanced looper but that's all that the programmer does. All his focus is on Mobius.

I think though the OP wanted to know exactly how the patch work more than how to do livelooping. (maybe he does though?)

I hope Ross will one day open a patch section for users to upload. The best would be with small sample as they eat up space and bandwith. Like a tricks and tips type of section or pieces made with the onboard contraptions.

Thanks for replies

Wow I had no idea AM had been around for 11 years!

Thanks again.

1998 I think. So let's say 13-14 years public release. I'd be curious to see a screenshot of that version and compare it to now. Hahaha
