Drag and drop between document switcher & patcher

Dragging and dropping selections in the patcher into the document switcher window would be a nifty way to aid in reusing contraptions and a lot more enjoyable than switching documents, copying then pasting. With drag and drop you could select multiple "documents" to drag into your main patcher window at once!

When documents are inserted have them ignore "sound out" if it was wired up previously. In addition to allowing selections to be dragged to the document switcher a "insert selection as new document" and "send to patcher"(?) buttons and keyboard shortcuts(!) would be good.

The way the "insert current document" button works now is hindered by the fact that the "slot" it goes into has to populated with a file already. That is you have to click on the folder icon to load a file first.

Being able to populate the document file(and thus the document switcher) with the contents of folders would also really open up the possibilities of the document switcher. A simple example would be that you could organize different types of devices in different folders and mix and match them. The document files seem to be xml files, so hopefully this wouldn't be too hard. :)

I think these features are in keeping with the spirt of mulch, but would enhance the creative flow.

Good thinking but I was thinking that dragging and dropping selections into the patcher palette would work as you suggest. Document switcher is something separate.

I don't think so. You should be able to select and empty slot and insert there. Otherwise you've found a bug.

I don't know what you mean by this at all. Can you explain another way? You realise you can drag multiple files from Finder/Windows Explorer onto the document switcher window.

My windows machine is broken at the moment, but in osx I cannot click on an empty slot.

One behavior that might be note worthy is that that if I close mulch with the document switcher open when I reopen the document switcher automatically pops up and the insert button is greyed out, but if I use cmd+9 or the menu to show and hide the document switcher it's lit up/active again. It shouldn't even be active when I have an unsaved document, I don't think? (Maybe mulch should offer to save for me? :) ) If I save my mulch document it greys out again.

Regardless, I even when I am able to click on the insert button it it does nothing. I cannot select any of the slots. Only clicking on the folder icon does anything.

Haha! No, I didn't. That's great and totally my fault for not reading the manual. What I meant by auto-populate was that if dragged a folder onto the document switcher it would scan the folder for files to load and then put them in place for you one after another, but drag and drop works well!

A new "issue" that I am aware of now from reading the manual :) is that enter doesn't work on osx to switch you have to use cmd or cntrl as well. Probably the whole enter/return thing. Also, the command/ctrl to duplicate is really cool, but I think it would be cooler if mulch at least had the option to make a real unique copy. :)

Thanks for the information!
