The roadmap for the next AudioMulch developments is here:

http://www.audiomulch.com/whats-coming

In an attempt to not bite off more than I can chew I'm going to limit talking about the future to what I'm working on at the moment, and what I'll work on after that.

I'm also planning on doing more small releases this year, possibly returning to the kind of public beta process we had before version 1 since I think that worked better for everyone than the "1 big release" approach.

I'd be interested to hear what other people think about this.

Thanks

Ross.

I'd really enjoy having public betas again. I always liked them in the past. If they make your life as dev easier or harder, I don't know. ;)

Me too, I really like the public betas!

I know there are things more important to do but I'm especially looking forward to trying out new contraptions.

Yeah. Public betas will be coming for version 2.2

I'm going to try going back to a process with semi-regular public beta releases like we had before version 1.0

I may even experiment with some kind of frequent release of development progress (every few days/weeks or whatever makes sense at the time).. not totally sure yet, but I'm thinking about it.

I realise keeping everyone in the dark about new development for months at a time isn't really helping anyone now. For me it made sense for 2.0/2.1 because there were a lot of big features and there was a lot of churn in my work until things stabilised.

Hi Ross - i hope all is well in your neck of the woods..

just wondering if the road map will ever include support for more than one core on a multicore CPU? mulch only uses one core right? would be killer to have more cpu available for mulch to play with.

edit: would also love a 12x12 matrix mixer.

Hi Ignatius -- All is well here. I hope with you also.

I'm trying to limit the roadmap to things that will definitely happen.

In theory I could promise a whole bunch of stuff I would _like_ to implement (multicore audio and variable-channel contraptions like NxM matrixes are both on that list) -- the problem with making a super big roadmap is that it will take infinite time to complete, and by the time step #1 is finished, priorities for step #2 will have almost certainly changed.

So I'm taking a step-at-a-time approach. Once this step is complete, I'll work on the next step.

I think multicore support is very likely in the next year or two but there are a number of other things I need to work on first. Aside from the technical issues related to multi-core support, I don't think multicore support with the same old contraptions is really a very interesting offering so I'll be looking at new contraptions/enhancements to existing contraptions first.

hi Ross -

i was just wanting to get those things 'on the record' as feature requests w/o making a new thread for it. i know you have a plan for the next 2.x release and the plethora of features will come in good time.

i was thinking multicore support might raise the VST/AU ceiling a bit
