Hello, new user here and I love Audiomulch!

In any case, I've been playing with the automation a ton and was hoping I can voice some improvements I would find useful. Sorry if this was mentioned before...

1) Ability to collapse/expand automation lanes. Instead of showing the entire lane just show a small line with the name of the automation. This would make it easier to focus on certain lanes

2) Group lanes. For instance say you wanted to group all the drums and automations under one "folder". Or maybe anytime you do an automation, to say the drums, it would automatically group all the automations you did for the drums. Say all the volume automations are stored under it that you automated. You can then expand or collapse it as you wish. This would be really useful, for instance, for the bassline generator. Instead of always showing the automation lanes for vol, res, decay, etc.. you can group these all under one automation lane for the bassline. You can then expand it to tweak whatever you want.

Thank you!

Hello, madcow. To point 1: Yes, it were useful to see not lines and lines,
but no must-have, if there would be only a few automations visible, that brings me to point 2 and my suggestion:
Only these automations are visible which contraption you have chosen in the patcher field.
But you can drag and drop automationlines, that you want to be visible all the time, in an rectangle or field ,so that it is visible until you drag it out of it (see my post number 18 in "some small enhancements that´ll help a lot")
To your suggestion: if you order the automations with folders you must everytime collapse it manually, after you use it, or it would look like my explorer (windows and Mulch)- long lists of folders and subfolders.

Glad to discuss

Whats up whitelight! BTW it's madkow with a k :)

I guess folders is the wrong word, I know what you mean about looking like a win explorer list, not what I was going for. Let me clarify.
The automation lane would collapse, the lane would say be 1/4 or so the size and the only text would be the contraption name. If you "expand" this, you will see all the automation's you applied to this contraption. Maybe at the very top of all the automation's you see a the 1/4 line with the name of the contraption while expanded. Not expanded as in sub-folders just that the lanes are visible now. You can then "minimize" it again and only see the 1/4 size lane with the contraption name.
Also maybe it's possible to turn this off and on at anytime as well, like classic vs new views.

I like the idea of only seeing only the automation's for whatever patcher you are viewing now. Maybe a right click "view automation's" would do this. You can then specify to show all automation's again when done, or the contraption is closed.

When you say rectangular field, do you mean a separate automation window? Like you can have multiple automation windows that only show you what you want to see at any time? Not sure I understand that too much. But I like that idea if that is what you are going for.

Oooh, what a shame!!! I´m sorry, madkow! Is this a first name?
To my understanding of your discription: You mean there is no folder with some subfolders until you get to the automations, but one stripe with the contraption´s name, that you can fold or unfold to the automations directly- additionally with the "topic" remaining.
My suggestion was: Instead of clicking on a stripe, you (double)-click* on the disired contraption in the patcher pane to see its automations in the automation pane. This is devided into two parts. One for the automations, that are visible, if you have chosen the patch, (otherwise it´s NOT),
and one for the resisting automations of all patches, which are always been shown. You can make an automation persistent when you drag and drop an automation into the "persisting part".
In your model it would be equal to a fovorite_stripe.
It´s properly a decision of taste. Your model is more understandable for beginners. They see what they want, because every stripe is visible every time(folded or unfolded).
In my case you have a center, the patcher- pane. Here you can make on the one hand the properties visible on the other hand the automationlanes!

*a drop down menu is too complicated, left click is easy.

Ok, I see what you are getting at. I would like to always have the option of seeing ALL automations at once. I think it would be cool to get a "contraption automation" window as well to see only the contraption you selected automations.

The reason I would like to see all of them and have the feature of folding the lanes is that in my limited experience maybe I want to see two contraptions or three/four/five automations at once so I can sync up different changes.

But I think we have the same idea. If the automation lane was a bit improved it would be sweet.
I know I hear a lot that AM was made with the goal of doing live performances but I think there is enough people like me that are not so ready for live performances. I am no musician but I can make a decent tune with a DAW on my machine and automations are key for that.

Just my two cents.

Madkow is the handle. Kyle is the name which some ppl pronounce Kow, so MadKow :)
