AM hanging when switching (some) files

Audiomulch 2.0.3 is frequently hanging for me when I switch between files. It doesn't seem to be all files, but I'm not getting any specific Audiomulch errors to follow up with.

Windows goes into "(Not Responding)" mode with Audiomulch whenever this happens, and I've only noticed it since 2.0.3. I'm running Windows Vista home (which is probably half the problem), but I have no idea how to troubleshoot what else could be causing this. To get out of it I force AM to close and then reopen.

It would be helpful to know:

- how far AM gets into loading the new file (does it redraw the GUI with the new document at all? or show that the old document has been unloaded? does the audio from the old file stop?)

- are the documents using VST plugins?

- is audio enabled when you do the switch? midi?

- are you using the document switcher or the file menu?

- audio from the old file does stop
- the new file is mostly displayed, although some of the VSTs end up with interfaces whited/greyed out
- very heavy use of VST plugins (some of them fairly old...)
- have tried with audio enabled/disabled - problem doesn't occur every time but doesn't seem to be related
- using the file menu

Will keep an eye out for anything else that seems like a pattern. In the last week, after this started happening, I hit a couple of blue screens when not using Mulch so am wondering whether my computer is just getting flakey.

ok. well it sounds like "something" is getting stuck during the loading process. it could be AM, or a VST. hard to say which but since no one else has reported it i'd put my money on a VST.

if its happening often enough to reproduce it you could make multiple copies of the offending document with different vsts removed and see if you can isolate the offending (use document switcher to quickly switch between them). try with a version of the document with no vsts too incase it is AM.

another thing you could try is systematically laying out all the VST editors so you can see which ones open properly. you might see that its getting stuck loading a certain one.

Will try dropping the VSTs out one by one. I have started to get an error every now and then which looks very VST-ish. Can't post the screenshot, but some of the text is:

Assertion failed!

Program: ...AudioMulch 2.0.3 ...
File: c:\am20x_wd\ ... VstForm.h

Expression slider != 0

That's something else, which has been fixed in 2.0.4 which should be released in the next few days (really).
