12/10/98 AudioMulch 0.7b5 Release NotesBeta update release 0.7b5 is a minor update to 0.7b4.While I was waiting for the documentation team (my brother) to finish the help file I cleaned up some code and added a few new features (described below). I thought I'd make it available to those who are interested incase any bugs have crept in (I'd prefer to get rid of them before 0.7r). Although I haven't been able to recreate the problem yet, I have been told that sometimes mulch will crash when you quit, or when a file is closed without saving changes. I am really interested in hearing from anyone who has that or any other problem with this version.
Thanks.
Changes Since 0.7b4
Some of these changes are described in more detail below. They will all be fully documented in version 0.7r.
A range slider has two "thumbs" one for selecting a minimum and one for the maximum. They are now operated as follows:
Clicking and dragging on either thumb moves that thumb.
Clicking and dragging outside either thumb moves both thumbs.
*The control [Ctrl] key always has the same operation: When the control key is depressed, the slider moves at 1/10th the rate allowing more precise manipulation of parameters. This is the same for range-sliders, sliders, knobs and number boxes.
As well as storing, recalling and deleting presets, now you can cut copy and paste presets within a contraption or between contraptions of the same type - this is useful when you want to have two or more contraptions with exactly the same settings (2 5combs for stereo for example). Or if you want to copy some drum and bass patterns from one document to another: Open 2 copies of mulch and cut and paste presets. Added New Numeric Edit Control A new numeric edit control replaces the old one in a number of places. Notably: tempo and SDelay delay times. The new control allows numbers to be typed in, or if you click and drag up and down on the "up/down" button you can change the value just like it was a knob/slider etc. As with sliders, range-sliders and knobs - holding down the control key while dragging changes the value at 1/10th the rate. Additionally, the numeric edit displays a red plus (+) sign at the right of the control if the value you typed is above the maximum accepted value, a minus sign (-) if the value is below the minimum accepted value and a cross (x) if the value you typed in is just plain wrong (it doesn't look like a proper number).
The "File->Save Pattern as Wave File" menu item has been replaced with
"File->Export as Wave File". This expands the export functionality to
save either a clock syncronised pattern, an arbitrary lengthed segment
or a processed version of part or all of the SoundIn file. Fractional
bar lengths are now supported.
