Welcome to my personal space on the web. I am a performer, composer and software developer currently located near Melbourne, Australia. At the moment my main project is AudioMulch, a sound synthesis and processing program for Windows. You can find links to some of my other projects, writings and music below. Em411.com published an interview with me which may be of interest.
I am a member of Simulus - an improvising electroacoustic ensemble.
My CV is online here.
Please feel free to email me at rossb@audiomulch.com
I use computers to make music. Often this involves writing software to get the sounds I'm after. I play live improvised music with my AudioMulch software and also produce recorded music, follow the links below for a few examples.
Together with Steve Adam and Tim Kreger I am part of the Simulus ensemble, an improvising electroacoustic performance group.
An excerpt from my algorithmic composition angelfire can be downloaded as an mp3 file here (2:27, 2.3MB). The whole piece is 10:28 in duration and was produced in Ambisonic surround sound.
In February 2001 I performed an improvisation entitled Dreamscape Resonances at a concert called Autonomic. Prior to the concert I produced a preparatory study which was played on ABC radio's Arts Today program here in Australia. You can download an mp3 file of Autonomic Study here (3:59, 3.7MB).
In late 2001 I traveled around the world. One of the places I visited was Ghent, Belgium where I presented an informal demonstration and performance using AudioMulch. This became the first of an onging series of electronic music performances in Ghent now known as the Ghent Sessions. Go here and browse to session001 to view photos and listen to an mp3 excerpt of this performance.
On a trip to Brisbane, Australia in July 2005 I performed in two concerts at the REV (Real, Electronic, Virtual) festival. You can download an mp3 of the second performance here. This is a 55MB mp3 file containing the whole 40 minute improvisation from the second concert. Most of the sounds are generated in real time with AudioMulch. I'm also processing some recordings I made, including one of me playing piano.
